Due date

WWWWWEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLL....it's still just the 2 of us (me and Charles) living in our house.

Our kid was supposed to come today, but hey only God really knew/knows the date. Today, we had a dr. appointment that was good. An ultrasound was performed to check the fluid around the kid and there was PLENTY. The only good image we saw today was the heart beating. We couldn't even see the face b/c the kid's food was blocking the face. Really Kid!! Then they hooked me up to the monitor to check for contractions and monitor the kid's heartbeat. The kid was chillin' and the nurse kept asking the kid to "wake up." She even encouraged some movement by touching my stomach with a little vibrating device. The kid moved a bit and then went back to chill mode. Measured my stomach. Looks good. Estimating about a 7 lb. kid. Dialated like 1 cm. Basically the kid is CHILLIN'. They went on and scheduled an induction for me next week. I must admit, I'm grateful to know the kid is doing well, but I'm also glad to know the kid's eviction date. That's a term the dr. used last week.

So like my shirt for today says, we've been trying to "Keep Calm and Carry On"
We hope you can do the same thing...until you get that call, text, or see that new blog post.

How You Feelin?

While I'm not on an emotional rollercoaster, I've had my high and subpar moments since last week.

My high moments came when I got that relaxer in my hair last week. YIPPEE!! Thank you Lord!! A big shoutout to cosmetologist, hair stylist, beauticians, and anyone who does hair. Let me just tell you how much you all can impact a person's day or week and even their mood. You wanna talk about turn that frown upside down. Thankfully I have had knowledgeable people dealing with my hair since I was young, so I know we say thank you each time we leave the salon, but here's another "Thank you". I also married into a family that is full of hair knowledge and have been hooked up by them on occassion also. Thank You!

Here are a few pictures of my hair. I mean did you really think the last picture I was going to leave up here was of me in the pool...hair looking A MESS? Uhhh no!!

Subpar moments came over the weekend. I wasn't feeling bad, just kind of sluggish. I know I over did the walking Saturday morning, so that kind of affected the weekend and had me feeling like "Ok kid, come on." Even though through this entire process, I've never tried or wanted to rush the kid. My mind says "you must be still in there for a reason."

High moment - The great and supportive people at my job gave us a shower on Monday. Great gifts, stories and laughs. It was a great way to bring me back to reality that "the kid" isn't supposed to be here until next week. Just be patient!

When Charles read this onesie, he said "I hear that all the time." Click the picture to make it larger. If you're unable to, it says "Put Me In Coach"

Wanna know what I look like exactly one week before my due date? And on Charles' bday... Happy Birthday My Friend!

Getting Ready

What would we do without family? Well for us, the kid's room wouldn't be quite so hooked up! We got a nice surprise last week when Cousin Penny "the family interior decorator" sent me a text saying she wanted to come to NC and asked if we had anything for her to do. UH YEAH!! I mean Charles had put the crib together, I put the changing table together, mom put up the curtains, but all the other stuff...yeah just hadn't gotten to that. So she came hung pictures, put up wall decals, dressed the crib, organized, returned items, created a window seat and on and on and on. MAJOR SHOUTOUT, PROPS and THANKS to PENNY for doing what I was becoming to lazy for. We still have a couple items to purchase (dresser/glider) and shelves to put up, but it will happen. My motto this entire time has been if the kid were to come today...we're straight.

Also, gotta send thanks to Lorraine for coming over and helping me pack my bag, talk through my birth notes (I don't really consider mine a plan), and just sharing her labor and delivery nursing knowledge. Not sure that's her actual title, but she works with the babies after delivery.

I have to say I think Charles and I are doing well. We have had lots of help, advice, prayers and guesses of "the kid's" gender so we say thank you for it all. We're getting ready...

A Wish Come True

I have been wanting to go swimming for a while now, but I always put it off because I hadn't purchased a bathing suit. I'm already a fan of tankini bathing suits so I was pretty sure I at least had some tankini shorts that would work. It was this belly that I wasn't to sure of.

Well, Sunday I was ready to either purchase a bathing suit or wear bikers and a t-shirt to the pool. However, before I left for the store, I decided to try on a tankini that I already had...and what'd you know...IT FIT!!! Now in the midst of my excitement the words of a good friend came to mind. She told me when I was about 6/7 months pregnant that if I could still wear my regular clothes 6/7 months pregnant then my clothes were too big from the beginning. HAHAHAHAAHAHA!!! As I looked at myself in the mirror I thought, what would she say about this. I'll be honest, I always knew the bathing suit was a little big, but I will also admit to wearing it a time or two. HAHAHAHA!! All too funny.

I made it to the pool thanks to Jacinta and Jeremiah. It was fun dragging Jeremiah around the pool in his floaty because I mean really what was I gonna do? Swim laps? Uh No!! The water was a perfect temperature and it was not crowded. Check out the pictures to see how much we enjoyed ourselves.

Straight CHILLIN'

A few moments in the baby pool. Please excuse the hair...I do get it done next week. THANK YA!!!

Photo Shoot

As much as I love pictures, I wasn't interested in a professional maternity shoot. However, in order to capture the beginning of the 9th month, here's our family photo shoot. Look for the professional pics after "AAAAA" is here...
