Pete and Repeat

It's almost the end of June. Geez I feel like mid May was just 2 weeks ago.

Alex is developing nicely. Great kid and a funny little guy we have here. He knows a lot of words and will repeat almost anything you say. Good things. Bad things. Commercials. He can also repeat a word/name/phrase what seems like 30 times. Often times when he's saying "mom" or "daddy" over and over and over again and we know he doesn't want anything...after time #2... he's IGNORED! Love him, but dude you're fine.

Alex can say/do the following:
- Say his name (Aaa wex)
- Spell his name (ALEX)
- Cry or whine but say "I'm ok." at the same time
- Get to the bottom stair and say "one more"
- Put his hands together to pray and then repeat the nighttime prayer
- Understand "the look" from mom
- Put things in the trash
- Can identify every bus, train, car, or motorcycle
- Knows the names of all the neighbors
- Says "weepy" for sleepy
- Says "Thank you daddy"
AND SOOOO MUCH MORE!

I remember Charles' Aunt Joy telling us how much one of her girls used to talk while she was driving down the street. Just talk talk talk talk. Well Alex is following along his cousin's path. Sometimes I just ignore him.

EVENTS
Before strawberry season ended, we went strawberry picking with a friend of mine and her children. It was Alex's FIRST time and mine also in a long time. We enjoyed this and will go back earlier in the season next year. It didn't take long for Alex to catch on how to pick them.

He was saying "pullllll". hahaha

Not only did he enjoy the strawberries, but he was picking them so fast I didn't always get a chance to pull off the stem. Yep...some of those went in that belly.

Pull. Eat. Smile.

First day of (all day) daycare. Prior to this day, Alex visited the daycare twice for less than two hours each time without parents or grandparents there so he would understand what was going to happen. He did just fine! On the first "official" day, he did GREAT! Got out of the car like a champ. Pointed at a school bus going down the road. Walked in the door to the preschool. Clinged to me a little bit when we got in the room with the other children, but he got distracted by some letters on the keyboard and I walked out. I never heard him cry, so I thought "oh that's great".

He looks uninterested in this picture, but it's because he just woke up. He woke up early that morning (unusual), as if he knew something different was going to happen. We got him dressed and I knew if we fed him he would fall asleep in the car, but we did it anyway. I didn't want him to sleep in the car because I didn't want to carry him in the daycare. Oh well...he fell asleep. However, when we were about 5 mins from the preschool, I started waking him up. Shaking his leg. Calling his name. Messing with his lip. He opened his eyes and looked like "come on lady" and then went back to sleep. He did wake up about 2 mins before arrival.

Walking in like a champ! I got this! Thanks for the outfit Nana!

After I left the room and closed the door. I got a picture of him inside the room. He's pulling his hair down, looking like "Oh my why am I here". I thought this was soooo funny.

The daily report said he had an ok day for it being his first day. As good as it gets. So that was fine.

The next day, when he CAUGHT SIGHT OF, I mean I wasn't even in the parking lot, this joker gets to crying. I started laughing like "for real Alex". I went around to get him out of the car, put him down on the ground and this guy starts walking THE OTHER WAY (away from the school). We eventually made it inside, but once inside he kept saying "outside". He eventually was carried down the hall by the director and I turned around and walked out.

The crying continues just about each morning (he's only part time), but I still just take him in and then walk out of the door. When you have confidence in the preschool that if something is really wrong that they will call you, you can walk out the door even with your child crying. It's torture to stand there and listen to them cry. I will say that I have been in the school (talking to another teacher) long enough to hear him eventually stop. It's usually less than 2 mins. It's the end of his first month and I can say he's getting better. I have experienced days when he didn't immediately cry. My day is coming! My day is coming!

VACATION
Charles and I took a little trip (without Alex) and thankfully he got to spend time with LOTS of family. That will be the next post. Then when we got back, I took him to the museum in Graham, NC.

Children's Museum w/ Keke (Kristen)

They were making some serious food market transactions.

Can't leave the museum without some "train time"

Memorial Day

Man,
This post is OLDDD now...sorry about that. I think it was because I was trying to upload some videos and forget the pictures were ready to go.

On Memorial Day, Alex learned about putting money in the bank. So now he says "moneee....clink clink". He's had a nice baseball bank, but wouldn't let it go one morning so I just let him carry it downstairs. When we got downstairs, he sure nuff dropped it. BROKEN! Now he has a large plastic Deer Park jug.

There is a really nice greenway by our house that we explored on Memorial Day. Very peaceful. Not too busy. Friendly. Good way to get some exercise. ALEX HAD A BLAST! Charles said he ran more than some grown people.

When he found out a bridge was head (he's standing on it in this picture), all he kept saying was "bridge, bridge, bridge" and running to it.

Bring it on in for a hug! Charles said that when Alex would get tired he would start saying "hug, hug, hug" just so they could stop. HAHAHA! I didn't think anything of it until after he said it.
Cute and Funny!

Having a great time!

Keep him hydrated!

All about the family!

Just a little tired on the way back, so had to get some assistance. Of course that didn't last the entire way back to the car.

Check it out!!
