Fire and Rescue/Room Transformation

He's almost 3 and "the 1st" are still happening. I guess I should stop being surprised because even at 30+, 40+, 50+, we can all still experience "1st". It's a fun way to live. When's the last time you tried something different in order to say it was your "1st"?

When the Disney Planes:Fire and Rescue movie commercials started coming on TV, Charles told Alex that he would take him to see it. For about two weeks anytime the commercial came on Alex would say "Fire Rescue! Can we go see it" Charles would appropriately say next week or in a couple days. As opening day got closer, Charles explained to Alex that the movie was going to be loud. Alex wasn't bothered. He simply changed his statement to "Fire Rescue! Can we go see it? It's gonna be loud." So FINALLY last Friday came and it was their 1st Father/Son movie adventure. Charles said that Alex was loud in the theater, saying "Did you see that dad?" "Look dad!" and that he did get a little restless, but made it thru the entire movie.

I was excited to see Alex after the movie on Friday, but typical Alex was in affect and not saying much about the movie. He smiled and told me that he saw Fire Rescue and he said he liked it, but that's about it. No worries, glad you and dad had a great time!

Snacks probably helped!

We've been showing K2 a little love too. This weekend our "Design Team - Chizzie" came over and started making things happen in her room. I am familiar with their style and knew that some of the choices they would want to make I would just have to step out (of the room) and let them do their thing. I saw them looking around other rooms in the house for things they could possibly use, but this didn't surprise me. If I remember correctly the designer of Alex's room (Cousin Penny), did the same thing. Works for me. At least they looked for things to use instead of saying "you must buy..."

I've briefly been in the houses of both of these ladies. Their homes are both very airy and show use of a variety of patterns, that magically come together and it looks great. The big thing about both of them is that they BOTH LIKE WHITE!! Now anyone who knows me, KNOWSSSSSSSSS white is not my favorite color. I don't care for white shirts, white pants, white sheets, white towels...you get the point. I am so self conscious around white because I feel like it's going to make me look dirty. Drying off with a white towel can make me feel like "Man I was dirty.", when the reality is you really can't see anything. ANYWAY! I knew working with Chizzie I was going to have to give in to white somewhere in the room. While neither of them have kids (which having them or not having them still wouldn't make me love white), their solution is wash it and put a little bleach on it. Deep breath...Ok! The room is about 85% complete and the things that remain I (with some assistance) can accomplish.

"Chizzie" hard at work. They had brief interruptions from Alex as he would
come in and say "Can I help?"

Choices. Choices.

The things we do to get a visual of how something will look. Hahahaha!
My favorite picture of the weekend. Design Team - Chizzie does whatever it takes.

When the room is complete, I'll reveal the final look. But I'll just say,
I'M REALLY LIKING IT! ----------- STAY TUNED!

It was a long day, but after Alex and I walked Chizzie to the car, I sat down where I saw fit. Who cares that it was the middle of the driveway. I was TIRED, but excited about all that had just been accomplished. You can see Alex was more interested in playing outside with his plane from Fire and Rescue. Guess I'll just sit here for a while.
Oh me and my 2 kids!

When Charles got home, he was pleased with the room also. Some work remains in there for him as well. As I laid on the bed, trying to relax, I eventually had to kick both Alex and Charles out of the room. It was Alex's bedtime anyway, but falling asleep in our bed was not an option tonight.

The next day, I still felt a bit tired. A little physically, but also mentally. Preparing for the week ahead (work wise and personally), K2 room finishes, an upcoming trip to VA, Alex's bday coming soon and all the things I want to do for these events. Ohhhhhhhh I have to just stop right there with the list. I'm surprised and proud of myself for actually taking this evening to do "a bit" of nothing, but write this blog. These moments don't happen often.

Until next time...find some happiness and maybe even experience a 1st!

Prepping for K2

Sooooo...there was a little SURPRISE (side eye) K2 shower held recently. It was a small gathering of friends and the love was clearly in the details. I never need a lot of people to have a good time and that's just what this was. VERY THANKFUL for all the gifts, love, advice and laughs that were shared.

Our small little group

We played "Guess how big I am" (yeah not sure of the official name), but someone cut their ribbon SOOO BIG/LONG that myself and another person fit. That's just the natural jokes of this person who normally says "just a little humor!" It was funny!

FLASHBACK - FLASHBACK: It was cool to play this game again as we also played it during my VA shower with Alex. My grandma was actually the winner that year! I can hear her now, I don't know what to do/what I'm doing. But she played anyway! Go Grandma! Love and Miss!

Supportive friends!

More "I got your back friends!"

Me and "The Sistah's"
If you know me/my family, you have heard of them! Enough said.
Thanks for the shower ladies!

Friends walked away with quite a few favors.

After a great afternoon, I wasn't sure I had any pictures of myself. I felt like I looked nice, so what do you do? Sit Alex at the "Big Boy Table" with a cupcake and ask Charles to snap few.

K2....we're getting there!
