Videos as promised

Nothing like seeing this little guy in action.

He knows the sign language for "eat" and "more". He can't do eat right with that truck in his hand. We don't know what "a-b-gee" means, but he likes saying it.

Merry CHRISTmas!!!

Christmas Time. It's been nice to have more than just a weekend to spend around the house hanging out with the fam. Christmas (gift exchanging) was low key around here as Alex doesn't understand about receiving presents. TAKING ADVANTAGE!!! We opened his first gift, he saw two trucks, said "guck" and ran off to play with them. We opened another gift and he just looked at us like yeah that's not important right now. Guck! Guck! It was HOURS later that we showed him the second toy again that he was became interested. Charles and I did a little cooking on Christmas, but other than that...sitting back and relaxing.

Alex has only about 2 shows that can hold his attention like this.

What's this from Aunt Kim?

I have two Hot Wheels in my hand from Aunt Tasha and Uncle Jodie, do I put them down to ride/push this dinosaur from Aunt Kim?

My style...a truck in each hand.

So I'm supposed to tear this paper?

A new book

Dog pillow

He was too consumed with Hot Wheels to check out Nana's gift this morning, but finally sparked some interest later in the day.

Just being silly.

2 SMILES!

Later during the holidays we started the conversion. No more mattress on the floor. Time to convert to full size bed. The crib has been taken apart and the new mattress is on the way!

Alex must get in some computer time each day. That's not at our request, that's all Alex. At his grandparents house, he will grab your hand and walk you to the office where the computer is. If he sees us on the computer at home, he's touching like let me see. So you might as well go to YouTube and search ABC, BINGO, roll over and those other catchy little songs.
The only way I'm doing this blog right now is because homie is SLEEPING!!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Oh give Thanks...giving

Life is a busy. Point blank. Period.

Alex continues to grow and surprise us on a weekly (if not daily) bases with the things he knows. Now he clearly and randomly identifies the letters "A" and "B" and almost has "C". We were passing by Old Navy one night where the letters shine bright white. He saw the "A" and yells out "apple". Charles just confirms for him, "Yep, apple." Too Funny! He also has the number 2 down pack. The other night in the Dollar Tree, we just happen to be checking out on register 2 and who noticed? Not me, until Alex points up and says "2". Yes, 2 Alex very good! His latest animal sound is of a cow and cat. Oddly enough he identifies an octopus by saying "ock". Charles' Aunt Kim at Thanksgiving was reading an Alphabet Animal book to Alex and she said he said octopus when they got to "O", but I was like yeah ok. Well, I'll give her the credit or give credit to Charles' mom who gave him a stuffed octopus made by one of her students when he was first born. So he's heard the word way before he could talk. He identifies shoes (usually mine or Charles) by picking them up, saying shoes and bringing them to you. He's working on sock.

He enjoys viewing the Christmas tree. He lightly touches it, but usually doesn't pull on it. Perhaps its because I didn't put any ornaments at the bottom within his reach, which made Charles think we needed more ornaments. Uhhh no, I did that on purpose. I would be the one picking them up every day. Again...Uhhhh, no. He also had fun at the Christmas parade. I thought I was going to have to randomly join the parade because he couldn't stay still. He would dance when the bands came by and wave at the animals. Laughing all the way is the best way to describe that experience. We walked with the neighbor which includes a 6-year old little girl. Alex was cracking up from the minute we left the house all the way up the street and then again on the way home. We don't know if he was laughing at her (even though she wasn't doing anything) or just having some wonderful thoughts that he just wanted us to know where HILARIOUS!! He was laughing like a grown man.

I think that's a decent summary for now. I know I'm forgetting some stuff. I'm telling you everyday is something great and different. I'm trying to keep up with all the words/things he knows and just when I think I have them all, I hear him say something else and I think "Oh, I forgot you knew that". Like "hot" if he's eating. I will try to get a video for the next post.

Here's a recap of Thanksgiving. Family time was great. Alex met some relatives for the first time and this year got to interact with relatives a little closer in age.

Alex and Jaden

Boys will be boys. They had a good time playing together at Granny's house.

Relaxing in Nana's chair

I wanted to try a mirror shot. It's the concept I was going for even though a little off centered and his hair looks a little wild. Did you say that's nothing new...leave our child alone. hahaha

Love grandparents and great-grandparents

Headed to the park

Saying "guck" for the truck that's in his hand

Alex would rather climb UP the slide. Is this common for a 1 year old? However, now when he goes to the park with his grandparents his favorite thing to say is "weeeee".

 Just being Alex.

FLASHBACK

Last Thanksgiving at Aunt Kim's house

This Thanksgiving at Aunt Kim's house.
This picture was not planned. Must be a comfortable spot. The growth in this picture is CRAZY!!!!

We had never met little cousin Ryan, but he had some little trucks so Alex thought he was alright.
Love this pic!

Aunt Roxie making it happen, with Rob standing there faking it. He probably wasn't doing anything to help.

Can anyone spot our special dinner guest?

Harper, Ryan, Alex = cousins
Yes, Alex got a nasty scrape on his face THANKSGIVING MORNING at the hotel. He's always trying to get in between something and this time, the inside of that door didn't present the smoothest surface. I won't call out the hotel or the room number, but trust me I know it. What a way to greet  some people he had never met.

Hey Lania!

Thanksgiving Day Host - The Martins! Good Job Guys! Hard work paid off!

All the eaters! After dinner, but before the Redskins game.

Cousins

It was a dark and warm room (until my flash went off taking this picture). These people were watching the Redskins game as if the TV was in 3D and when the Redskins scored the first touchdown, the room erupted so loudly I couldn't even hear my Grandma on the phone. Funny because there was a loud roar of excitement going off at her house too. Ok Grandma, I'll call you back. Ohhh, there were a couple Cowboys fans in the house, but they didn't enter this main room. They sat on the other side of that wall.

It's my two FAVORITE GIRLS!!!
I hadn't seen Symphoni and Zoe in FOREVER. Probably since our wedding. We were in our make-shift photo room playing with props.

They already love their cousin. Alex had the best time laughing at Zoe on the air mattress.

Oh to sit at Nana's feet.

Uncle Steve!!!!!

Alex saw a truck and went to investigate.

We're just living a blessed life!
I'll try to post one more time before Christmas.

Big Dreams, Big Wheels, Big Cut, Mad Skills

Well you wanna know how we solved the crib issue. Just put the queen sized mattress beside the crib and everything is alright. Alex sleeps here with no problem! When he wakes up he climbs off the bed and walks right into our room with no problem. I said, "What 1 year old sleeps on a queen size bed?" Charles said, "Who cares"

Can't pull off moves like this in a crib!

And why do people buy kids expensive toys??? Alex was happy putting the straw in and out of the cup from some fast food restaurant. He is also having fun putting the tops on different containers or water bottles. Can you say all objects AROUND THE HOUSE!!! Works for us. We'll enjoy it now and save the few dollars for the real toys later.
His words are also developing nicely...bubble, cup and something we can't figure out. Sounds like bu-go-gi. "Wa" for water. He also knows where his toes, nose and head are. Still working on showing two fingers, but one and five are good!

Well I was anxious to get Alex outside during these wonderful days of fall, so I bought him a grow-with-me bike. I'm not spending money on little toys so just get the good stuff.  We haven't been far on it because he keeps putting his feet down, but with these 80 degree days we will keep trying.

 Thanks for the ride Dad!

Wwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeellllllll, we did it, we did it, we did it, hurray (says Dora the Explorer...get your Nick Jr. watching up if you don't know what I'm talking about)!!!! We got Alex the big cut! Just tamed it up a little actually. It was much easier to do since Charles and I did it in our own time and not according to everyone else. I was much more overwhelmed when I went and checked out a daycare center that day, than with his haircut.

BEFORE with a blueberry in the mouth and toothbrush in hand

So you're about to do WHAT SIR?

Dad, you got me in a headlock here! Am I that wild?
Not really...he actually did very good. No tears, just a little wiggling.

Having juice helped... (insert song, "I got some drink in my cup")
ALL FINISHED!!!

Back view

Although the cut is done, I'll admit that it doesn't look like that "tamed, fresh" cut anymore...wild hair is back!! It's ok, Dad kinda missed the wild hair after the cut was done.

Friday, Charles and I recognized that Alex was saying something like "apple". So we continued to say it and sure enough, the word apple became recognizable. Saturday morning, I took Alex downstairs and gave him an apple and continued to say the word as I fixed his breakfast only to come back to him and see this...

Guess those 8 teeth really work!

Sunday was a nice day so we spent time outside. Playing with the ball, bubbles and blocks.
Alex gets loud when he's outside.

I'm going to smile just in case I'm not supposed to be doing this?

He discovered dirt!

Being the cool kid that I am!!!
