It's like this people...
IT'S REAL OUT HERE IN THESE STREETS!!!
work, work, work, work, work, what you working with...
family. commitments. life. health. wants. needs.
IT'S A LOT!!!
But yet I am THANKFUL.
THANKFUL I can do and THANKFUL I'm not updating the blog.
THE WAIT IS OVER. Let's catch up!
This month instead of just Alex and Alana on the couch, we added our homie Blake. He was here on the day I would have taken the picture, so might as well include my little "superman" friend. He's the son of Charles' friend from college/our old roommate. I believe Blake is 6 weeks old here.
And yes, those are cars beside Alex's head because he wanted them in the picture.
It's your girl!
Flashback
Early Jan. 2015
We took a trip to MD to see family. We also wanted to see Reese before he left for Bahrain with the Navy. It was also a chance for all the grandkids to be in one place at one time.
Reese is 20 years old and is as tall as his grandfather. In this picture we were questioning if his hair gave him an extra 2 inches. What kinda Navy haircut is that? Hahaha!
Zoe watched out for Alana all weekend!
Can you see Zoe is like her daddy. (see 3 pics above)...phone in hand.
Granddad and Grandkids Photo Session
Although they look a little criminal-ish, what they are holding up is their age.
In 20 years we will not have to look back at these pictures and wonder how old they were.
Then my brother and I bring in a little silliness.
Just a really awesome picture of Alex. He was running by, telling me I couldn't get his picture and this is what I got. AMAZING. I love it. I love the smile. I love the teeth. I love the eyes. He just looks so awesome here.
Now let's go back to 2014...
Nana came to town on New Year's Eve to watch the kids so that Charles and I could attend a wedding. The wedding was BEAUTIFUL and Charles and I were JAMMING on the way home. After Alana stopped crying, she listened to Nana's every word.
Just sitting here chilling with my homie...dad
With her little hand casually resting on his shoulder.
Getting ready! We contained the excitement of Christmas for Alex by buying him an advent calendar. He knew he could open it every day when he got home from school. This kept him from asking us all the time when is Christmas. He also learned that Christmas was about Jesus' birthday and that Jesus was born in a manger. The church up the street had a nativity scene set up so when we passed it every day he would mention it.
A few days before Christmas, Nana and Papa stopped by. It was Papa's FIRST time holding Alana, so you know Mrs. Lydia and I were snapping away. Hahaha!
Christmas Day
That morning, we locked the gate at the top of the stairs to prevent Alex from going down before we were ready. I also made him take a shower, brush his teeth, put his clothes on, etc. before going downstairs b/c I knew it would be a struggle to do any of those things after opening gifts.
Yes, I was a Gangsta Wrapper!
Excitement!
Oh wait maybe this is the face of EXCITEMENT!
It was interesting to watch Alex open the presents. He selected the first gift to open and when the outside of the box said Macy's, Charles and I knew it was clothes. We looked at each other like "Ohhhh, he's not gonna like that." Surprisingly, he was ok. There was brief happiness and then a quick "it's just clothes." Charles quickly explained that he had more to open. He selected the next gift and thankfully it was a toy car. He immediately wanted to take it out of the box and didn't appear to be phased by that remained under the tree. Again, Charles had to explain that there was more to open. I'm glad to know that there was happiness after just one thing.
Alana in Grammy's lap at Christmas dinner.
We enjoyed dinner at The Long's house. Same place that we had Christmas dinner on Alex's first Christmas. Love them! Alex didn't want to be apart of this picture, so we took it without him.
What a big/full tree The Long's had.
He did take a picture with his dad.
Just laying here kicking my feet up!
One of Alex's main gifts...Hot Wheel Track
Several days later it was Christmas at Grammy and Papi's.
Getting creative with ALL these Hot Wheel cars.
Forcing Alana to like them as much as Alex.
Me and my guy!
Hey Girl!
Brother and Sister
He's into her and she's into him.
He checks on her. She watches him.
Just look at them. This was random and nobody told them to interact.
Later for now!!!
Next time we'll go for some videos.
