Busy but Fun Weekend

So the Whitakers had a good weekend, filled with more FIRST. We started the weekend in Charlotte, with an exciting trip to Ikea. I LOVE going to Ikea especially since it's a store that's not right around the corner. Going for me feels like a treat! It was also a treat for me because Dee (who lives in Charlotte) had never been before...not sure how that happens, but I was excited to experience this with her. Alex had a good time running around Ikea. I had him in the cart and out of the cart only because he had been sitting for 2 hours plus. However, when I let him go, there was no sweet holding my finger and walking. It was like BYE and Hahaha when he knew I was behind him.

After A WHILE (hahaha), we finally made it to Dee's house. She has 2 dogs so it was going to be interesting to see Alex interact with them. Well they both checked each other out and then things were fine. The dogs didn't jump on Alex or try to lick him in the face!!! That's the kinda dog I like. Charles often says "roof roof" to Alex so he let out a couple "woof woof's" to the dogs.

Later that evening, we met up with some other friends who just moved to town and had never met Alex before. Alex is going through a very expressive stage, so when he first saw Nick (after Alex just woke up), they exchanged some eyebrow expressions. I will admit...Alex started it! Quite funny. Alex ended the night giving high five's to his new friends.

This was a quick trip, so Saturday we headed home. Not without allowing Ryann to brush Alex's teeth. The conversation went like this...Me - Ryann, you wanna brush Alex's teeth. R - Sure. Me - He might bite down and it's powerful. R - Ok. Hahahaha. Result - Ryann gets the job done, but before it was over she says "ok, I'm done with this". Hey, she wanted to do it!

Clean teeth and we were off to meet Dad's friend, Pearl. This was her FIRST time meeting Alex and she talked about how cute he was. Tried to figure out who he looked like. No result. And let him eat her cornbread. I told her how he doesn't like cake. She said the cornbread wasn't sweet so that must be why he went for it.

When we got home, Dad was excited to see us! So excited, he let THE KID BE A KID! No details needed. A picture is worth 1000 words.

After a proper bath, it was time to play with the new tunnel we bought at Ikea. Alex checked things out on the other end, Charles threw a couple toys on the inside and it was a done deal. Tunnel fun!

When you need an Alex fix, this is the video to watch. His words are "ball" and "guck" for truck. He can also say "go", make a choo-choo sound, show you one finger, give and show 5 fingers, identify certain animals and clap for himself when we say "Good Job Alex".

On Sunday, after rocking to the music in church, but not wanting to sit through the message because he was tired, we just went home. After a 20 minute nap in the car, he was up ready to play. Really dude! Grabbed Dad's hat and wanted assistance putting it on his head.

It was such a nice day, we let Alex run around in the backyard. WELCOME FALL!!

GREAT WEEKEND!!! Hope you had an enjoyable one also!
