4 yrs and counting and Little Christian Baby

It's August! What can I say (that's new)? Nothing cause we're still busy. Students are back on campus for Charles and I, orientations happen, students need to get registered, oh and then our own kids continue to grow and surprise us more and more every day.

Well, August 2 - we were thankful to celebrate Alex's birthday once again! As we did last year, we took the party on the road. It's my thought that while Alex doesn't have "friends friends" (you know those that he is asking if they can come over) that we might as well go and be with family. He does enjoy his school so we did take cookie cake and watermelon to the school.

So let's start there.

I totally had my own icing and wrote "Happy Birthday Alex" in the parking lot before walking in.

He tried to blow out the candles from afar, but it wasn't working so we turned the cookie.

Looks like Alex wasn't the only excited one!

Alex and his school crew

Then we were off to VA
Remember Alex and his cousins going to Fort Fun a few months back?
Well, I enjoyed it so much...we went back on his birthday! Oh, you say it's not about me....you're right but................

Alex and his cousins!

Being 4

Small and contained party!
Subway sandwiches, Cheetos, grapes, Capri Suns!
EASY!!

Picture with the birthday boy!

WHAT??? 4!!!!

Nana is such a great picture taker!

Oh yes! Alana was there to celebrate too!

Then she said ENOUGH!!

Enjoying ice cream cake
I tried my hardest to get him to get a "fun" flavor ice cream, but all he wanted was chocolate.

What's he into?
TRANSFORMERS

New shoes
He'll never know I got them for $10 at the Kids Exchange!
The bottom of the shoes told the story of "I've Never Been Worn"
SCORE!! Hehehe! Mom savings!

Alex and all his gifts!
Now the real story behind this FAKE SMILE is this boy was SO TIRED at this point. About an hour after this picture, he almost had a breakdown and just expressed "I'm just so tired." followed by almost tears. I TOTALLY laughed inside cause I've been there. Clearly he and his cousins didn't have naps that day. It still took him a while to go to bed, but whatever.

Several days later, I asked Alex what was the best thing about his birthday?
He said the cake and the presents.

I made a personal commitment when Alex turned 1 that since the number cookie cutters I ordered came 0-9, that I would make number cookies until he was 9. Well I didn't make them in time to give them as favors to his cousins, but when we returned home...to thine own self be true. I made them!!! Minus outlining them with icing.

What else happens when you turn 4???
The Training Wheels Come OFF!
Alex was excited!
When he fell off at first he didn't cry, but the tears came later due mostly to frustration.
I thought Charles was giving him "too strong" of a push, but I kept my mouth closed for a good little while. I thought to myself, "Tameka what do you know about teaching someone to ride a bide? Let this be a father/son thing and you just capture the moment." So that worked for a while until I chimed in. The main thing that was holding Alex up was he needed to keep pedaling.
Glad Charles was smart enough to take him in the grass.

Uhhh, focus Alex.

After about 3 sessions in the grass, he is now a "no training wheels" bike rider!!!
Dear Santa Claus - we gonna need an upgrade for Christmas!

Oh and can I secretly tell ya'll this...why did Charles say keep that bike for Alana.
WHAT? WHY? DO YOU SEE IT SAYS TONKA!!! I asked if he was going to spray paint it.
Now I am not the girly girly type, but my daughter will not have a Tonka bike. Convo over!

1st time in a pool...backyard style. She wasn't too fond of it at first, but you would never know that from this picture.

Put this cute face on a Tonka bike.
BYE!

I can't remember why he has Alana's spoon.

After pool...2 minute sunbathing!
Nothing like my brother! Nothing like my sister!

We straight believers!
Jesus Rocks!!
Alana's dedication

She clapped.

She made noise.

She gave the "I agree/You better sing that/Yessss" hand

Everybody was in place!
We look pretty mellowed out, but we were happy.

Thankful that Pastor Long and his family continue to be apart of our lives.
Engagement counseling, Wedding ceremony, Alex's dedication, Alana's dedication

It's ok sweet girl, he's a good man!

The pass off
She wasn't too fond of it, but the prayer got prayed and she was fine!

If she doesn't look like her Nana right here!

Just her and her daddy

Silly

Outta that dress!

Cheezin' with her momma

Thankful that our parents have no problem sitting around the table together.

Favorite Uncle William came over later that afternoon (with Aunt Clarice and Cousin Will) and said "Hey little Christian girl!"
It was funny and cute so that was the name for the rest of the day! Well her day didn't last much longer because after he gave her this bottle...she fell asleep right there. Check that leg up on the counter.

Next post...video of some of the above things mentioned. Bike rides, church celebrations
and HOPEFULLY walking

Quick

I'm gonna keep this quick because I am VERYYYY late in posting it and I have a 4 yr. old birthday post that needs to come soon also. So here we go.

Celebrating diversity on the 4th of July

Cooling off on the 4th of July

People tend to be confused about her ethnicity so for now we'll just go along with it and say "Hola"
Cute shirt and new moccasins

When Alana takes naps, this is how Dad keeps her safe from rolling off the bed.
Yes, clearly she is awake and eating a cracker here.

Parents on vacation!!!!!!!
God Bless Our Parents!!!
Thank Ya!!!!

No shame in my game posting this picture.
This Bali Bed was EVERYTHING. I was truly in another place right there.

Cheesin' It Up!

Island Michael Jackson show

We found Nemo(s).

Snorkeling took getting used to but I was all for it.
I was going to post video I took underwater, but later when I need a flashback.

Winning!

In the middle of the water...somewhere.
No for real I have no clue where that was. Not sure they told us.

We saw our fair share of weddings take place here.
The resort did a nice job of setting it up each time color and seating wise.
It didn't look cookie cutter.

Back to the kids!

Smiling with her eyes

Clearly this was a good thumb day. Even after the picture she still wanted it!
Ohhhhhh...that's the smile!
