Dad's Friends - Mom's Friends

Charles had some friends from AZ come and visit family in Myrtle Beach, so we drove down to see them. Can't let good friends come this close and you not see them!

Luke walked an entire stack of magazines and papers over to Charles, one by one.
The simplest things can make kids happy.

 Chris and Alex

I guess they were trying to prove real dads push strollers.

Charles and Chris: "take our picture with the boys here"
Me: "Ok, sure."
The boys: "We're not interested, but look at this water."

The boys: "Oh you want us to look"

 Senor Frogs!

I think Luke is 18 months and Alex is almost 2 (23 months).

It was great to see Chris, Kim and Luke. The boys enjoyed jumping in puddles and Alex enjoyed running over the bridge as fast as he could (like 50 times). People would look at me, laugh at him and I would just shake my head and smile. Myrtle Beach, we'll be back soon!

After an enjoyable Saturday at the beach, we went to a baby dedication on Sunday. Alex hasn't been to church (on Sunday) in a while. I didn't know how long he would last, but wanted to give it a shot in order to show support.

While in church, Alex wrote the letter "A" all by himself. I looked over at my friend Dee who was sitting on the other side of him in complete shock. Now yes, I had been working with him on it, but this was the FIRST time he did it ALL BY HIMSELF. I was trippin' in church for about 10 mins. Dee gave me a high five and everything. Sorry Lord, but I was texting and everything! Later that afternoon, he went to Grammy and Papi's house and continued to write them.

Being the talkative kid that he is, staying in church, quiet was not happening. Thankfully there was a nice large basement where he could be free. This piano caught his attention. Then he ate and played with trucks.
Oh yeah, you see me up here.

Alex and Taylin. Remember Taylin?
There are so many different little conversations I could type right here.

Yeah that's them in 2011.

After a busy weekend, we just chilled around the house that evening.
Charles picked out this shirt! Now let's see who he gets it from...

 his momma?

 or his daddy?

FLASHBACK
NOW

THEN (less than a week old)

Time keeps on moving......and it's alright!

July 4th recap

We spent the 4th of July in VA.
Always fun hanging with family. Here's a recap.

Papa had just put together a new leather office chair and guess who had to test it out. Perhaps he's checking some numbers for Papa....."No Papa, they not trying to pay."

NEXT CUSTOMER

Cousin time! Glad nobody was running through the house because you probably would have stepped on a little person's fingers.

Fireworks from Uncle Bob and Aunt Net's house. This was his FIRST real experience seeing them. He enjoyed them, but was also wanting to get in that water. Uhhh No. There was a lot of "Look Daddy", "Look Mommy", "Red, White, Firework".

We saw the fireworks at Yorktown Beach, Williamsburg and Busch Gardens all without driving a mile. Just a slight turn of your head and it was like "oh there's more".

Hanging out at G.G's house. Running around with Uncle Bob and Uncle Steb (Steve).

Looking older than what he is!

RIDING EXPERIENCES
Just a little unsupervised driving of the lawn mower. Hahaha. Sike. Of course it's not on and Uncle Steve is right there. The cool thing is, I have a picture on the lawn mower with my granddaddy from when I was younger. Guess you can't have family in VA and not sit on a lawn mower as a child.

Now this "ain't" no lawn mower. Hahahaha! Papa was cleaning his car and even though we had just come from the park, Alex jumps right in. He says "dribe de car", "Papa car".

We took Alex to the pool, but we only got to stay for about 15 minutes before it closed. Well guess what was on when we got back. The Sprinklers! He really enjoys the water!!!!

A quick picture in the fire truck as he's out shopping with mom!

Parents Away = Hangout with Family

Ok, here's the situation.
Alex's parents went away on a little vacation.

Oh, Oh Sorry, I'm just modifying the words to DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's song called "Parents Just Don't Understand". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW3PFC86UNI
Ya'll know how I am.

No but really, Charles and I realized we had way too many vacation days at work and so before we lost them, we used them. Thankfully, lots of family was ready and willing to spend some time with Alex so it was a done deal. Aunt Tasha and Tea came and picked him up, took him to Nana and Papa's house, played around for a couple days, Grammy was in town and scooped him back up before she returned home. Alex couldn't stay too long because he had to come home and go back to daycare. Remember from the last post, we're still in the "getting used to it" stage so we didn't want to keep him away too long. There are lots of pictures, including ones I haven't seen, but he had a great time!!

A quick trip to Old Navy on Day 1. This person looks about my size.
Take notice of Alex's hair. It won't look like this in any other pictures.

Alex, Papa and Tea
Did you say it? OMG? Where's Alex's hair?
Well, Charles asked Aunt Tasha to cut it because he felt like it was just too hot and too much hair. The top of his head was always hot even if he wasn't playing around. So Aunt Tasha got to cutting. Aaaawwww it hurts even saying it. HAHAHA!!! When I first got the picture (not this one) from many miles away, I probably had some really random good and bad thoughts. However, the reason for cutting it over powered anything else and although our boy looks 4 instead of barely 2, I quickly found a liking for it. Thanks Aunt Tasha!

Papa, this is how you work an iPAD.

At the pool, looking pretty disappointed/mad.

I'm not mad, I'm having a blast! Look Nana. Look Nana. Look Nana.

Writing with Papa

Cousins Rock! I heard they got along just Great!
Alex kept calling Aunt Tasha "Mom" because he was hearing Tea say Mom. Although they were telling him Auntie he was like "Mom". Hahaha!
