Busy and fun times cause people to have to put a few things to the side. This time the blog had to be put on pause for the month of June. But it's July and we're ready to share all the fun things we did while busy.
"ok, here's the situation, my parents went away on a week's vacation" - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Well the Fresh Prince might have but Charles and I just went for a couple days. We did a lot of "first-time" outdoor activities including this shot of us parasailing. This was after about an hour of arriving.
We came back and took Alex to an outdoor concert with a performance by the group "Sleeping Booty". They were actually pretty good.
Cousin Kayla and Aunt Joy paid us a mid-week visit.
Nana says Alex "can make some faces". Like this Nana? Taken before 9am.
1st time in swimming pool...
and he enjoyed it. He actually kept leaning over wanting to put his entire face in the water.
Charles, Darryl and James went to Chicago for a trip/work, but came back and played with Alex too. This is the most clapping I'd seen Alex do. Now it's an everyday thing. We'll give James credit for that skill!
Von, Alex, Darryl, James, Charles - Just a picture, none of those out of control wild boy vibes rubbing off on Alex please. I heard, trust me, I heard.
I'M SO FRESH FRESH in my daddy's Arizona State (ASU) hat.
See my pearly whites. 4 on top. 4 on bottom.
"I'm riding around and I'm reading" (HAHAHA...that's an inside joke to anyone who listens to hip-hop radio and the song that says "I'm riding around and I'm gettin' it"). Alex was in VA, riding with Nana and Aunt Tasha on the way to Aunt Connie and Uncle Lionel's house to visit and see cousins Telicia and Jaesen before his future playmate arrives in Sept. Not finding out the gender must run in the family because they don't know "Baby Keith's" gender either. Way to hold out fam!...and Aunt Tasha did the same thing.
Alex really does like to read/be read to/look at pictures in a book. Here Aunt Debbie reinforces the importance of reading.
Just about every family member on Charles' side has a dog...and Alex has no problem with any of them. He laughs and grabs (still working on petting) each one of them. Playing with Roxie (the most stylish). You can see it in Alex's eyes that behind Roxie's head is a smile. IMPORTANT NOTE: this DOES NOT mean we can/will/interested in getting a dog soon. No. No Thank you. Don't send one, unless you send a return box.
Always love between Tea' and Uncle Charles
Alex was invited to his first birthday party! Nathaniel was born about 3 weeks before Alex and is the son of a co-worker in my college. The party was held at Gymboree (Play and Music) in Durham. They have all kids of mats, things to climb on, roll on, roll through, sing songs, etc. It was fun to see all the children interact.
Nathaniel (the birthday boy) is the one sitting on the floor on the right. Uhhh Alex, do you have to be in the middle of the drum.
Parachute time!!! Wow...I still remember playing with the parachute in the gym of Mr. Brown's PE class in elementary school. Fun times!
Still several days late, but back to our regularly scheduled monthly picture. I think he now sits taller than the elephant. Hair looking a little rough. Shows no signs of Aunt Tasha combing it, but hey that was days prior.
Still interested in the sign, but standing on his own. I didn't mention walking, but that started in June also. Aaaaahhh breathe deeply. I told you June was a busy month. Check out the post titled "On the Move" for video footage. Can't talk about that. It's a must see.
Nobody like Dad!
