1 1/2 celebration and Enjoying the snow

Alex turned 1 1/2 (18 months) on Feb. 2. Since that day was on a Saturday, I figured we do something a different. So we did a little arts and craft project with his favorite neighbor, Abrea. I taped the word "cool" on a piece of canvas so that Alex could use the edible paint I made to paint the canvas. Yes, I said edible and yes, I felt like the mad scientist while it was cooking in the kitchen. I selected the word "cool" because Charles often tells Alex you're a "cool guy". And I happen to agree!

But before we got started painting, we had to let Alex be Alex. I was in his bathroom putting a bag in the trashcan, when he chose to pick up his pot, take it back to his room (where I had just put on some new clean sheets), stand on it and then sit on it, like so...saying "Dees". I tried not to laugh, but sent this picture to Charles (away for baseball) immediately saying "I'll pay you if you can tell me why he just did this." Charles text back, "that's a cool picture!"
Well it's your birthday, do what you wanna do!

He pushed the empty diaper box down the hallway.

Then after a nap, we got to painting. Now to be very honest, the consistency of the paint was a little clumpy and weird. While this picture shows Alex doing something, he mostly ran around like this is a joke. I told my neighbor, I'm gonna stop hyping myself up thinking Alex is going to enjoy something because he continues to "do what he wants to do." I know...typical child this age.

This is the final project. If you look closely you can see his shoe print from him stepping on it and wheel marks from his pushing a truck through it.

I saw a cute 1 1/2 year old cake idea, so being that he didn't really go for the 1 year old cake, I said I'll try again. He smiled this time when he saw the cake and then said "A". Not what is this huge chunk of whiteness on this plate, but let me go ahead and identify these letters.

And the faces begin...

He did put a finger in the cake, but after a little help from Charles and a fork he started digging in the cake. Not really to eat, but to tear it apart. He did taste this cake, just didn't eat alot.

The wonderful Kid's Exchange took place this month also. Of course Alex racked up...I can't help it, it's cheap! Volunteer some hours of my time in exchange for cheap toys...I'm There!

Really Alex...What are you doing?

Dad's first home game was a couple weeks ago so we went out to support.

Come on Papi, no more baseball!

Papa, you're here too!!!

OMG it's snowing. It's the FIRST time Alex got to experience snow. I think it has snowed before but it was late at night so he was asleep. This happened on a Saturday, in the afternoon. I took Alex outside to snap a quick picture and then go back inside. Well.....going back in the house didn't work.

So we put on his coat, vest and hat and we were back outside. This was the first time he has put a hat on and wasn't trying to take it off. Clearly it was cold. Hahaha! We got back outside and at first he didn't want to leave the back porch. It wasn't until I ran out in my flip flops (like a dummy) to show him it was ok, that he then was off.

Off so fast he ran two houses over.

Then his favorite neighbor came out.

It's SNOW.

He started eating a little piece of snow...

And ended with this.
All the while making the same humming noises he does eats "real food" that is good to him.

Great day in the neighborhood. Videos of the snow coming next.
