Alex

At 7, Alex still loves school!  He does very well and receives compliments from all who interact with him. Now at home...he's different, but I'm gonna keep this positive for all you first timers.

We really like Alex's teacher (Mrs. Lu). Among other great qualities, she's a woman of her word. When she told us at the beginning of his 1st grade year that they would become authors and publish a book, my mind was like "yeah that's great." I kinda felt like she was shooting for the moon with a group of kids she didn't even know yet. Well as you can see it happened. She invited all the parents to the class as each "author" read the story they wrote. Yeah she's amazing.

So when we realized that having Mrs. Lu as his 2nd grade teacher was an option, we were ALL ABOUT IT! She welcomed all the kids with excitement and open arms and the learning was under way. She sent us a really nice email a few months ago about something that Alex did for her. It really touched her and even though Alex plays "tough", he even let her hug him.

This is how Alex felt about getting his front teeth pulled.
He had to get them pulled because his baby teeth never fell out, but his permanent teeth were coming in strong. So this summer after our awesome summer vacation, Alex got his teeth pulled. He wasn't really scared and the dentist office was awesome! Charles and I played a video game machine during his procedure. We could see him, but we let him go in with the dentist and dental assistant. They constantly gave us thumbs up and we could clearly see them laughing at their conversation with Alex. The dentist said getting the first teeth pulled is more common than people realize. I think he said about 6-8 kids a day.
